Crop Production and Phosphorus Legacy with Long-Term Phosphorus- and Nitrogen-Based Swine Manure Applications under Corn-Soybean Rotation

چکیده
The traditional manure management strategy, based on crop N needs, results in accumulation of phosphorus (P) soil due to the imbalance N/P ratio between requirement and supply. This study was conducted from 2004 2013 evaluate effects P-based liquid solid swine (LMP SMP, for manure, respectively) application, comparison with N-based application (LMN SMN, respectively), yield residual P under corn (Zea mays L.)–soybean (Glycine max L.) rotation a Brookston clay loam Lake Erie basin, ON, Canada. Chemical fertilizer (CFP) non-P treatments were included as controls (CK). For treatments, LMN showed lower annual (7.82 Mg ha?1) than LMP (9.36 ha?1), their differences even statistically significant at p < 0.05 some cropping years. also higher those SMP (7.45 SMN (7.41 CFP (8.61 although corresponding not (p 0.05) soybean, plots produced an average 0.98 ha?1 greater yields CK. Phosphorus- and Nitrogen-Based Manure and Compost Applications: Corn Production and Soil Phosphorus
Manure or compost application based on N needs of corn (Lea mays L.) may result in soil accumulation of P, other ions, and salt because the manure or compost N/P ratio is usually smaller than the corn N/P uptake ratio. This study was conducted from 1992 to 1996 to evaluate effects of Pand N-based manure and compost application on corn yield, N and P uptake, soil P level, and weed biomass. Compo...

Understanding tillage, N, and P interactions can contribute to improved N and P utilization and crop response. This study examined the interaction effects of tillage and N rate of two N sources on N and P uptake by corn (Zea mays L.). The study was conducted on Kenyon loam (fine loamy, mixed, mesic Typic Hapludolls) soil at the Iowa State University Northeast Research and Demonstration Farm nea...

متن کاملLong-term effects of land application of poultry manure on crop production, and soil and water quality under a corn-soybean rotation system in Iowa
In recent years, the poultry industry has seen a steady growth in Iowa. With the increase in the broiler and egg industry, the public is concerned about the potential threat to environmental quality (surface and subsurface water and air quality) from increased volumes of poultry manure. Although the effect of poultry manure on crop production has been studied, its effects on water quality, unde...
